Safety Patrollers are 4th and 5th grade students who are selected from the GTE Ambassadors. (Ambassadors are nominated by their teachers for good behavior and grades.) Once selected and a permission slip has been returned, patrollers are provided with their necessary gear. They are then assigned to a specific duty. Duty assignments consist of monitoring students in the hallways and cafeteria during arrival and dismissal, assisting students to and from car rider line and buses, raising and lowering the flag, and taking new students on a tour of our school. Assignments are rotated to expose patrollers to each specific duty.
Each group of patrollers will go on a field trip to the local fire station and police station. We also have regular meetings during the year, and an end of the year party with the Ambassadors where patrollers are recognized and receive a certificate and badge for their participation.
